Advertising and Data delivers market-leading industry advertising platforms, solutions, and services, integrated with targeting and creative. The team provides analytics tools and expertise to drive data-driven decision-making across all Yahoo! product and regional teams and focuses on thought leadership for data-driven advertising, industry measurement, and the value of Yahoo! data. Advertising and Data is part of Technology and Operations. Advertising and data is comprised of seven functional areas – Advertiser, Publisher, Marketplace, Consumer product insights, Advertising and Data solutions, Continuous delivery, and Strategic revenue initiatives. About the Role :
The Analytics and Data Platforms group is looking for an energetic and experienced professional who is passionate about building high volume, scalable, reliable and high performance system for data processing. The system must be fast, secure, highly available, customizable and built to scale. This poses very interesting challenges with Grid technologies, storage systems, distributed programming, large-volume system architecture and security. A successful candidate must be passionate about his area of expertise, a fast learner, self-starter, and a skilled problem solver.
Responsibilities :
- Develop software modules as per design and implementation strategy
- Understand related pieces of tools and technology used in Yahoo
- Provide regular update to project leader/manager on project status
Must have skills :
- 2 to 4 years experience in software development, testing and deployment in a production UNIX environment
- Good understanding of data structures and algorithms
- Good in Java/C++ and object oriented concepts
- Fair knowledge of working on UNIX systems
- Good in scripting with Perl or Shell
- Good communication, problem solving and team skills.
Nice to have skills :
- Experience with working on Hadoop, Map-Reduce and Grid related technologies
- Experience with relational databases is a plus
