The Staff Selection Commission is functioning under the Department of Personnel & Training, Government of India. Initially known as Subordinate Services Commission, it was set up on 1 July 1976, primarily to make recruitment on zonal basis for non-technical Group C posts under the Central Government, except the post for which recruitment was made by Railway Service Commission and the industrial establishments.Functions of the Staff Selection Commission have been further widened and now it carries out recruitment for Group B and Group C posts under the Central Government. The Commission thus recruits the major work force for the Central Government, including the Central Para-military Forces.

 AGE LIMIT : as on 1st January 2014 (01-01-2014) :

  1. 18-27 years for Junior Engineer (Civil & Electrical) in CPWD and Department of Posts 
  2. Not exceeding 30 years for Junior Engineer (Civil) and Junior Engineer (Electrical & Mechanical) in MES
  3. Upto 32 years for Junior Engineers (Civil & Mechanical) in CWC and Farakka Barrage.
  4. 18-27 Years for Junior Engineers(Quantity Surveying and Contract) in MES
  5. Not exceeding 30 years for Junior Engineer (Civil) and Junior Engineer (Electrical & Mechanical) in Border Roads Organisation (BRO) of Ministry of Defence 
  6. Age relaxation as per government norms

HOW TO APPLY

  • Candidates should apply between 01 March 2014 to 26 March 2014 ( upto 5.00pm) for part-1 registration and 01 March 2014 to 28.03.2014(upto 5.00pm) for part 2 registeration. 
  • Candidates should retain the Registration number assigned to them online and details of payment of Fee for further correspondence with the commission. 
  • They should not Submit print outs of their application to the commission.
  • In the case of Areas for which there is extended closing date, part-I registration Will be accepted upto 02 April 2014 ( 5.00pm) and 04 April 2014 (5.00pm) for part-II Registration.
  • The online submission of the application may be made at website http://ssconline.nic.in and http://ssconline2.gov.in 

Application Fee :

  • RUPEES ONE HUNDRED ONLY (Rs. 100/-)
  • Women candidates and candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Physically Handicapped, and Ex.Servicemen eligible for reservation are exempted from paying application fee as per extant Government Orders.

  • Part-I Registration : Up to 5.00 PM on 26-03-2014.
  • Part-II Registration :Up to 5.00 PM on 28-03-2014.
