Recruitment in Clerical Cadre in Associate Banks of State Bank of India - Nov/Dec-2014


JOB DESCRIPTION

Applications are invited from eligible Indian Citizens for appointment in clerical cadre in Associate Banks of State Bank of India. Candidates can apply for vacancies in one Bank and one State only and will have to appear for the test from an examination centre for thatparticular State. Candidates can appear for the test only once under this recruitment project.

  • State Bank of Travancore : 1300 posts
  • State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur : 1000 posts
  • State Bank of Hyderabad : 2200 posts

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION : (As on 01.12.2014)

A Degree (Graduation level) from a recognized university, or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central/State Government.

Age Limit : (As on 01.12.2014)

Minimum Age : 20 years ; 
Maximum Age : 28 years (as on 01.12.2014). 
Candidates born between 01.12.1986 and 01.12.1994 (both days inclusive) are only eligible to apply.

Selection Procedure :

  • Final selection will be made on the basis of performance in the online test and interview taken together. 
  • The test will be online objective type, consisting of 
    • (i) General Awareness 
    • (ii) General English 
    • (iii) Quantitative Aptitude 
    • (iv) Reasoning Ability 
    • (v) Marketing Aptitude / Computer Knowledge. 
  • Each test will be of 40 marks.
  • For these objective type tests of total 200 marks candidates will be given a composite time of 2 Hours 15 minutes
  • There will be negative marks for wrong answers in the Objective tests. 1/4th mark will be deducted for each wrong answer. Candidates will have to pass in each of the objective tests.
  • The passing marks in each of the tests will be decided by the Bank on the basis of the performance of all the competing candidates taken together in each test to a minimum required level. Candidates are also required to score a minimum percentage marks on aggregate (For SC/ST/OBC/PWD/XS candidates, 5% relaxation available thereon) for being considered for interview. Minimum percentage marks on aggregate will be decided by the bank.
  • NOTE: Other detailed information regarding the examination will be given in the 'Acquaint Yourself' booklet, which will be made available to the eligible candidates along with the call letter for the test.
  • Interviews : Candidates qualified in the test will be placed according to their marks in descending order in respective categories. Depending upon the number of vacancies only certain number of candidates from amongst those who qualify by ranking high enough in the merit will be called for interview in the ratio of maximum 3 candidates for each vacancy. Candidates are required to score a minimum percentage marks (to be decided by the bank) in interview to be considered for final selection. 5% relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PWD/XS category will be available thereon. The knowledge of local languages will be tested in the interview. 10% weightage would be given out of total marks (35) for interview for possessing working knowledge of local language. Final selection will be made on the basis of candidate's performance in the test and interview taken together.
  • Note: Interview call letters will be uploaded on the Bank's website after declaration of result of online test. Candidates will have to download the same from our website. No hard copy of interview call letter will be sent by post.

Job Description :

  1. Applications are invited from eligible Indian Citizens belonging to SC/ST/OBC category for appointment as Management Executives in State Bank of Hyderabad.
  2. This is a special recruitment drive for SC/ST/OBC category.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA :

Essential Academic Qualifications :
  1. Post Graduate Degree/ Diploma in Business Administration, Business Management, Finance, Marketing, International Business, Operations Management, Systems, HR (The course studied should be of minimum two years full time course. Part time course/ distance learning courses are not eligible). OR
  2. M.Com OR
  3. M.A. / M.Sc. (in Economics or Statistics) OR
  4. CA /CWA/CFA/CS (Company Secretary)

Percentage of Marks:

  1. Candidates with professional qualification (CA/CWA/CFA/CS) should have secured 55% minimum aggregate marks in XIIth Standard.
  2. Candidates without any professional qualification (i to iii mentioned under 'A' above) should have secured:
  1. 55% minimum aggregate marks in XIIth Standard AND
  2. 50% minimum aggregate marks in Graduation irrespective of pass course or honours course AND
  3. 50% aggregate marks in Post Graduation

SELECTION PROCEDURE :

Phase-I :
Examination consisting objective tests for 200 marks and descriptive test of English knowledge for 50 marks. The objective test will be online. Immediately after online objective test, Descriptive test will be administered. Cadidates will have to answer Descriptive test on paper/Pen mode.
  • Objective Test : 
The Objective Test with 2 hours 30 minutes duration consists of 4 Sections as follows:
    1. Test of English
    2. Test of Data Analysis & Interpretation
    3. Test of Reasoning
    4. Test of Financial Awareness &, Marketing
The candidates are required to qualify in each of the Tests by securing passing marks, to be decided by the Bank.
  • Descriptive Test of English knowledge: Time- 60 minutes
Candidates who are 40th percentile and above in each of the four objective type tests and with an aggregate 35% minimum marks as also 35% marks (minimum) in descriptive examination will qualify for Group discussion and Interview. Bank may decide, at its discretion, to reduce abovementioned qualifying marks. Depending on the number of vacancies, a merit list of qualified candidates will be drawn up and candidates will be called for Group Discussion and Interview [Phase-II] subject to maximum three times the number of vacancies.
Phase-II 
Group Discussion & Interview (50 marks)
The qualifying marks in Group Discussion & Interview shall be 35% (minimum 18 marks) out of 50 marks (combined marks for Group Discussion and Interview). Bank may decide, at its discretion, to reduce the qualifying marks for Group Discussion and Interview.



Final Selection

The candidates will have to qualify both in Phase-I and Phase-II separately. Marks secured by the candidates in the Written Test (out of 250 marks) are converted to out of 75 and marks secured in Group Discussion & Interview (out of 50 marks) are converted to out of 25. The final merit list is arrived at after aggregating converted marks of Written Testand Group Discussion & Interview out of 100 for each category. The selection will be made from the top merit ranked candidates in each category. Results of the candidates who have qualified for Phase II and the list of candidates finally selected will be made available on the Bank's website.

Date of exam : The examination will be held on 23.02.2014 

Examination Fee :

  1. SC / ST / PWD : Rs. 100/- (Intimation Charges only)
  2. OBC Rs. 500/- (App. fee and intimation charges)

HOW TO APPLY :

Candidates will be required to register themselves online first through Bank's website www.statebankofindia.com or www.sbi.co.in. After which candidates are required to pay the requisite application fee through one of the following modes:
  1. Offline mode : The system will generate a cash voucher/ challan form pre-printed with the candidate's details which will be required to be presented at any State Bank of India branch counter with the requisite fee. On payment of the requisite fee through computer generated challan form, registration of the online application will be complete.
  2. Online mode : The payment can be made by using debit card/ credit card/Internet Banking.
