Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) notification for BE/BTECH as Scientist B - 115 posts

Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), a statutory body under the administrative control of Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Govt. of India, is the National Standards Body of India and is responsible for activities in the field of Standardization, Product and System Certification, Hallmarking of Gold/Silver Jewellery, Laboratory Testing etc., in the country. BIS is also responsible for Standardization and Certification at the International level. BIS offers excellent career opportunities to bright, young dynamic persons for the post of Scientist-‘B’. These posts are in the Pay Scale of Rs. 15600-39100 + Grade Pay Rs.5400 plus allowances as applicable. The indicative gross salary as on date at New Delhi will be Rs. 52,280/-.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS :

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology or equivalent with not less than 60% marks in aggregate (50% for SC/ST candidates).

AGE LIMIT : 

 The candidates must be between 21-27 years of age as on 01.12.2013. Relaxation in upper age limit for SC/ST/OBC/PWD/Ex-Servicemen/ Meritorious Sports Persons/ Widows/ Divorced Women/ Women Judicially separated from Husbands/ Persons who had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of J&K during the period from 1st January, 1980 to 31st December, 1989 shall be as per Central Government. The Relaxation in upper age limit for SC/ST candidates shall be 5 years; for OBC candidates shall be 3 years; for PWD (Gen) candidates shall be 10 years; for PWD(SC/ST) candidates shall be 15 years; for PWD(OBC) candidates shall be 13 years. The upper age limit for Departmental candidates serving in BIS is 50 years.

SELECTION PROCEDURE : 

Eligible candidates will be required to appear in an online examination at their own expenses. The tentative list of examination centers is at Annex 4. Candidates short-listed will be interviewed for which traveling expenses upto second class train fare for to-and-fro journeys from normal place of residence by shortest route shall be payable. Candidates who have been shortlisted in the online examination will subsequently be called for an Interview. The Interview centre, address of the venue, time & date of Interview will be informed to the shortlisted candidates in the call letter. Candidates are required to download their interview call letters from authorised BIS website www.bis.org.in.
HOW TO APPLY: Candidates are required to apply On-Line from 06.12.2013 to 24.12.2013 through BIS website www.bis.org.in. No other means/mode of submission of applications will be accepted under any circumstances. For further details refer to Annex 6.

PAYMENT OF APPLICATION FEES : 

The Application Fees/ Intimation Charges [Payable from 06.12.2013 to 24.12.2013 (only through Online payment mode) both dates inclusive] is Rs. 750/- and is Non-Refundable. No fees is required to be paid by SC/ST/ Ex-Serviceman/ PWD/Women Candidates. Bank Transaction charges, if any, for Online Payment of application fees/ intimation charges will have to be borne by the candidate.

Qualification :

The Candidates should be studying in the Pre-Final of the Engineering course from any govt. recognized Universities / Institutions / Colleges in the relevant subjects.

Age Limit :

The age of the candidates should be between 18 years to 24 years. Age relaxation as per the rule of govt. of India.

Stipend :

During the period of training the candidates will be given a stipend of Rs.21,000/- P.M (Rs.15,600/- as pay in pay band plus grade pay Rs.5,400/-).

Selection Procedure :

  • All applications as per format of Application Form given in the website are to be forwarded to respective Command Headquarters.
  • Preliminary selection of prospective candidates studying in the Pre-Final Year (Engineering) will be made by selection team detailed by Command HQ for holding preliminary interviews at University / Collage.
  • Candidates are required to be under graduates during the selection process and must be graduates at the time of commencement of the course. Candidates whose University examination pattern does not permit applying for the UES are advised to apply for TGC/SSC (T) commencing at IMA Dehradun/ OTA Chennai in Jan/Apr and Jul/Oct every year. TGC/SSC (T) courses are being notified in Employment News and other prominent Newspapers in April and Oct i.e. approximately nine months before commencement of TGC course at IMA Dehradun and 12 months before commencement SSC (T) course at OTA Chennai. The decision of DG Recruiting, Army HQ in the matter of short listing and forwarding of applications to Selection Centre for SSB interview will be final.
  • Duration of SSB interviews is five days excluding day of arrival. During their stay at SSB, candidates are put through Psychological Tests, Group Test and Interviews
  • Candidates will be put through stage I of the selection process on the first day. Only successful candidates shall be retained for balance of the testing. Candidates who fail to qualify in stage I will be returned on the first day itself. Stage I are Psychologically oriented tests including intelligence tests.
  • Candidates who qualify at the SSB and are found medically fit by a Medical Board will be placed in order of merit. The final selection will be made in the order up to the number of vacancies available at that time.
  • Pre-Final year candidates will be called in the year of their completion of Degree, subject to their being medically fit at that time depending on availability of vacancies and their position in the merit.
  • Selected Pre-final year students would be granted Short Service Commission on probation from the date of their joining the final year class.
  • After successful completion of degree course the candidates finally selected will be admitted for Pre-Commission training at Indian Military Academy (IMA), Dehradun for a period of 12 months.

Job Description :

  • Assistant officers/ Assistant Engineers are newly introduced positions in IndianOil. They will be recruited as regular executives in the Corporation. 
  • Postings will predominantly be to manage day to day operations in the divisions. 
  • The positions will be mostly in marketing operations at Terminals/ Depots/ LPG Bottling Plants/ Aviation Fuelling Stations (AFS) and pipelines projects etc. 
  • Selected candidates may be posted/ transferred to any Division / Unit / Subsidiary Company/ Office of the Corporation.

Remuneration :

  • Candidates selected as Assistant Officers/ Assistant Engineers will receive a starting basic pay of Rs. 20,600/-per month. In addition, the selected candidates will receive Dearness Allowance (DA) and other allowances, according to the rules of the Corporation in force, as amended from time to time. 
  • Other allowances / benefits include HRA / subsidized housing accommodation (depending upon place of posting), medical facilities, performance related pay, gratuity, contributory provident fund, employees pension scheme, group personal accident insurance scheme, leave encashment, leave travel concession (LTC)/ LFA, contributory superannuation benefit fund scheme, conveyance advance/ maintenance reimbursement, performance related incentives (PRP) etc 
  • The Cost-to-Company (CTC), will be about Rs 7.00 lakhs per annum inclusive of performance related pay (PRP). The actual CTC will vary depending on place of posting and also performance ratings.

Age Limit :

Maximum 26 years as on 30th June, 2013 for the general category candidates. Age relaxation for OBC (Non Creamy Layer)/SC/ST/PWD candidates will be applicable as per the Presidential Directive.

Selection :

The selection methodology will comprise of the following: 
ƒGraduate Aptitude Test in Engineers (GATE) 2013 score of the candidates in the advertise core disciplines. The graduate engineers from the relevant disciplines, desirous of applying for the positions of Assistant Officers/ Assistant Engineers in Indian Oil must have appeared in GATE-2013 in the same disciplines and posses a valid GATE-2013 score. 

Service Bond :

ƒ General category candidates will have to execute a bond of Rs.2,00,000 (Rs.35000/- for SC/ST/OBC & PWD candidates) to serve the Corporation for a minimum period of three years from the date of joining.
