State Bank of India Recruitment Notification 2014 for 1837 Probationary Officers (POs)

JOB DESCRIPTION

Applications are invited from eligible Indian Citizens for appointment as Probationary Officers (POs) in State Bank of India. Candidates selected are liable to be posted anywhere in India.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Essential Academic Qualifications : (AS ON 10.08.2014)

  1. Graduation in any discipline from a recognised University or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government.
  2. Those who are in the Final year of their Graduation/Semester may also apply provisionally subject to the condition that, if called for interview, they will have to produce proof of having passed the graduation examination on or before 10.08.2014.
  3. Candidate having integrated dual degree (IDD) certificate should ensure that the date of passing the IDD is on or before 10.08.2014.

Age Limit : (As on 01.04.2014)

  1. Not below 21 years and not above 30 years as on 01.04.2014 i.e candidates must have been born not earlier than 02.04.1984 and not later than 01.04.1993 (both days inclusive).
  2. Age relaxation as per government norms.

Application Fee :

  • SC/ST/PWD : 100/- (Intimation Charges only)
  • General and Others : 500/- (App. Fee including intimation charges) 

SELECTION PROCEDURE

Phase-I :

Examination consisting Objective Tests for 200 marks and Descriptive Test for 50 marks.
  1. The Objective Test will be online. Immediately after online Objective Test, Descriptive Test will be administered. Cadidates will have to answer Descriptive Test on paper/Pen mode.
  2. Objective Test : The Objective Test with 2 hour duration consists of 4 Sections with 50 marks each (Total 200 marks) as follows :
    • Test of English Language (Grammar, Vocabulary, Comprehension etc.) 
    • Test of General Awareness, Marketing & Computers 
    • Test of Data Analysis & Interpretation 
    • Test of Reasoning (High Level) 
  3. The candidates are required to qualify in each of the Tests by securing passing marks, to be decided by the Bank.
  4. Descriptive Test : The Descriptive Test with 1 hour duration (50marks) will be of “Test of English Language (comprehension, short précis, letter writing & essay)”.
  5. The candidates are required to qualify in the Descriptive Test by securing passing marks, to be decided by the Bank.

Phase-II :

Group Discussion (20 marks) & Interview (30 marks)
  1. The aggregate marks of candidates qualifying in both the Objective Tests and Descriptive Test will be arranged in descending order in each category. 
  2. Adequate number of candidates in each category, as decided by the Bank will be called for Group Discussion and Interview. 
  3. The qualifying marks in Group Discussion & Interview will be as decided by the Bank.

Final Selection :

  1. The candidates will have to qualify both in Phase-I and Phase-II separately.
  2. Marks secured by the candidates in the Written Test (out of 250 marks) are converted to out of 75 and marks secured in Group Discussion & Interview (out of 50 marks) are converted to out of 25. The final merit list is arrived at after aggregating converted marks of Written Test and Group Discussion & Interview out of 100 for each category.
  3. The selection will be made from the top merit ranked candidates in each category.
  4. Results of the candidates who have qualified for Phase II and the list of candidates finally selected will be made available on the Bank's website. Final select list will be published in Employment News/ Rozgar Samachar.

EMOLUMENTS

PAY : 

  • The starting basic pay is 16,900/-(with 4 increments) in the scale of 14500-600/7-18700-700/2-20100-800/7-25700 applicable to Junior Management Grade Scale I.
  • The official will also be eligible for D.A, H.R.A & C.C.A as per rules in force from time to time. The compensation per annum at Mumbai is around 8,40,000/-. The break up of monthly compensation is as under:
    • Cash Component : 34,320/-
    • Bank's contribution to PF : 1,690/-
    • Housing (Lease Rental) : 29,500/- 
    • Perquisites (Conveyance, Newspapers, Entertainment allowance, House & Furniture Maintenance etc. : 4,130/-
  • In addition, the officers are also entitled to other benefits like
    • Medical Aid for self (100%) and for family (75%)
    • Home Travel Concession/Leave Fare Concession
    • Concessional Interest Rates for Housing/Car/Personal Loans 
  • The salary scales are under revision with effect from November 2012. 

Career Path :

  • The Probationary Officers will be on probation of two years during which they will be given intensive training. Towards end of their probation / training period, they will be subjected to a screening process. While those Officers who achieve the predetermined standards may be confirmed and given placement in the next higher grade i.e., Officer Middle Management Grade Scale II, others who qualify the test but fail to achieve the standards set for placement in Middle Management Grade Scale II, will be confirmed as Officer Junior Management Scale Grade I. The services of those Officers who fail to qualify in this process will be terminated.

Offline mode : The system will generate a cash voucher/ challan form pre-printed with the candidate's details which will be required to be presented at any State Bank of India branch counter with the requisite fee. On payment of the requisite fee through computer generated challan form, registration of the online application will be complete.
  2. Online mode : The payment can be made by using debit card/ credit card/Internet Banking.

ICICI BANK Probationary Officer Training Programme November 2013

Probationary Officer Training Programme :

Probationary Officer Training Programme is an initiative of ICICI Bank to attract young talent who wish to pursue a career in banking. It is designed to develop specialists with banking knowledge and skills to fulfill the future need of trained bankers.

It is a one year full time residential training programme, conducted at ICICI Manipal Academy campus, Bangalore. Applicants joining the Probationary Officer Training Programme will be enrolled for MBA in Banking and Finance with Manipal University, an UGC recognized University.
Since its inception in 2007 more than 6,800 students have joined the Bank and currently 1,900 students are undergoing the training at the ICICI Manipal Academy Campus in Bangalore.

MBA (Banking & Finance) program consists of two phases :

Phase I (12 months): This phase comprises of 9 months of on-campus classroom training & 3 months of internship in ICICI Bank. Upon successful completion of this phase, participants are awarded a Post Graduate Diploma in Banking (PGDB).
Salient Features of Probationary Officer Training Programme:
The training has a blended curriculum with instructor led classroom sessions, e-learning and internship at ICICI Bank branches/offices.
The training imparts knowledge and skills in core banking (banking products,banking operations, channels and customers, receipts and payments, etc). The trainees will have the opportunity to specialize in one of the following areas in banking:
  1. Trade Finance & CMS.
  2. Branch & Relationship Management.
  3. Private Banking & Wealth Management.
  4. Rural and Inclusive Banking.
  5. Any other Profile as decided by ICICI Bank.
  • The participants are put through a very rigorous training with special emphasis on application of knowledge and overall development of personality.
  • The classroom sessions (9 months) are conducted at the ICICI Manipal Academy and internship (3 months ) at any ICICI Bank branch or office (within India).
  • The Probationary Officers are paid stipend for the first 9 months to meet the out of pocket expenses and a higher stipend during internship.
  • The Probationary Officers will get an assured employment with ICICI Bank on successful completion of the Probationary Officer Training Programme.
  • The faculty is comprised of experienced professionals in the domain of banking and finance and behavioral sciences. There is a special focus on the overall grooming of the individuals and that is further facilitated through a learning environment that is created through lectures delivered by experts from ICICI Bank and the banking industry.
  • The campus is equipped with the best educational infrastructure e.g. air-conditioned classrooms, video conferencing rooms, auditorium, well stocked library, boarding and lodging facilities, recreation and sports facilities, etc. The residential nature of the programme ensures that the Probationary Officers imbibe the culture and values of ICICI Group.
  • Phase II [Optional] (18-30 months): This phase comprises of 18 months of Online Training (3 Semesters). It is designed to provide managerial skills to the students. This phase commences after the students join the Bank. It provides an opportunity to complete the training programme while working. On completion of this phase by participants who opt for it and pay the requisite fee, an MBA( Banking and Finance) is awarded by the Manipal University. Students have the option of completing Phase II in 30 months. MBA degree will be conferred only on the successful completion of both Phase I and Phase II.

Upper age is relaxable by

(b) Ex-servicemen (including Emergency Commissioned Officers/Short Service Commissioned Officers) who have rendered at least five years continuous Military Service and have been released on completion of assignment (including those whose assignment is due to be completed within one year) otherwise than by way of dismissal or discharge on account of misconduct or inefficiency or /on account of physical disability or have been released/discharged on account of physical disability attributable to Military Service or on invalidment 
(c) Candidates who had ordinarily been domiciled in Kashmir Division of the State of Jammu and Kashmir between 1st January, 1980 and 31st December, 1989.
(iii) 10 years for VH/OH (Gen); 13 years for VH/OH (OBC) and 15 years for VH/OH (SC/ST) candidates.
NOTE : CUMULATIVE AGE RELAXATION WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE EITHER UNDER THE ABOVE ITEMS OR IN COMBINATION WITH ANY OTHER ITEMS.

The candidates are required to qualify in the Descriptive Test by securing passing marks, to be decided by the  Bank.
Descriptive Test paper of only those candidates will be evaluated who have scored qualifying
marks in the Objective Tests as stated above in (i).

(b) Phase-II: 

Group Discussion (20 marks) & Interview (30 marks)
The aggregate marks of candidates qualifying in both the Objective Tests and Descriptive Test will be arranged in descending order in each category and the candidates in the order of merit, subject to 3 times the number of vacancies in each category, will be called for Group Discussion and Interview.
